Both musicians are big figures in English music in their own right, each with an anniversary to celebrate: Carthy has been touring for 21 years and has a ‘best of’ album out this spring, while it is ten years since Moray put out his first album.

Carthy has had an exceptional career including two Mercury Prize nominations, a Paul Hamlyn Prize, numerous BBC Radio Folk Awards and many other accolades.

She has also travelled the globe to perform and record with a dazzling array of artists including Billy Bragg, Paul Weller, The Wainwrights, Richard Thompson, Bryan Ferry, Nick Cave and Joan Baez.

Moray is similarly busy producing, recording and performing. Another darling of the Radio 2 Folk Awards and the Cambridge Folk Festival, he released his fifth album, Skulk, last year.

Both will share a ten-piece band on the Opera House stage and play a set each, with material from across their two extraordinary careers.

The band line-up will feature: Carthy (vocals, fiddle, accordion), Moray (vocals, guitar, piano), plus David Delarre (of Gift Band, Mawkin – guitar), Sam Sweeney (Bellowhead, –fiddle), Barnaby Stradling (Blowzabella, Edward II –bass), Willie Moleson (Eliza Carthy Band, drums), plus many more.

The show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £19 and £21, are available from the Box Office on 0845 127 2190 or online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
