Dynamic duo at the Queen’s Head

A review of last year’s performance at The Queen’s Head described Winter Wilson’s music as an act of joyous rebellion.

The duo have indeed delighted club and festival audiences for some years now but the 2013 release of the Cutting Free album propelled them back to the forefront of the contemporary scene.

Widely praised by reviews from as diverse sources as Maverick Magazine and The Daily Telegraph, who named it as one of their top ten albums of the year, it encapulates everything that makes Winter Wilson more than just another folk duo.

The breadth of Dave Wilson’s songwriting moves from reflections on World War One to bittersweet love songs and he has clearly mastered the art of writing the perfect words for his and Kip Winter’s vocal range.

With a jazz and classical training, Kip Winter’s voice is one of the most powerful instruments on the folk scene.
