CHESTERFIELD: Kim Tiddy prepares for take offon tour with Boeing Boeing

The glamorous TV star, who made her name in The Bill and Hollyoaks, is heading for Derbyshire to perform in the comedy Boeing Boeing.

A couple of weeks prior to the tour, Kim was clearing out the possessions of her grandad after he died at the age of 90.

“I found a VCR and it was actually a film of Boeing Boeing,” she said. “It’s like my grandad was wishing me good luck; it makes me smile every time I think about it.”

Kim, 35, is looking forward to bringing the play to Derbyshire, where it launches at Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre tonight (Tuesday, February 5) and hits Buxton Opera House at the end of February.

She said: “The play is just fantastic - it is so much fun. I think it will appeal to a wide audience because of the humour and the relationships.”

She plays American air hostess Gloria, one of three love interests of a philandering architect.

While little girls may dream of becoming air hostesses, that career path was never on Kim’s radar. “I wanted to be a nurse or a nun. I loved stories about Jesus, the disciples and the saints and I was waiting for my call from God but it never came. My secondary school had a fantastic drama department and I was really passionate about performing.”

Her big break into television came via The Bill in which she played Pc Honey Harman for four years. Kim said: “I loved being on the show. It was a great platform for an actor to come and learn the craft.”

Although her character was killed off in 2007, Kim is still remembered for her role as the dizzy police officer. She said: “The Bill has an amazing following of fans. I still get recognised because there are repeats of The Bill on television now.”

Kim’s last TV incarnation, playing former model turned pub landlady Heidi Costello in Hollyoaks, resulted in her second dramatic exit from a TV serial when Heidi was strangled by her father Silas in a case of mistaken identity.

“I like to think that they kill off the most popular characters,” she said.

Boeing Boeing runs at Chesterfield Pomegranate Theatre from February 5 to 7 and at Buxton Opera House from February 28 to March 2.
