Musical director, Andrew Marples, has selected a bright, fresh programme of seasonal and Easter music for this month’s concert.

The programme includes choral favourites by Gounod, Mascagni and Sibelius, well-known songs from Jesus Christ Superstar, Easter Parade and Kismet and excerpts from Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Yeomen of the Guard and Iolanthe.

Soloists from the society will add further variety performing everything from Spring Fever and When April Sings to The Gas Man cometh!

“Spring into Song” will be held at Hasland Village Hall on Friday, March 27, and St John’s Church, Walton, on Saturday, March 28, both starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets, £7 including refreshments, are available from Julia Tew, tel (01246 418887), society members and Chesterfield Tourist Information Centre.

This concert is the first for the society this year and follows a successful 2014 culminating in a Christmas concert at the Crooked Spire.
