BUXTON FRINGE 2014: Programme adds free event

Between July 14 and 26, every night at 5pm Fringe performers will entertain onlookers from the Pavilion bandstand for up to 30 minutes.

But the free events don’t stop there. There’s the Fringe’s launch night at Underground Venues on July 8, Chapel-en-le-Firth Morris Dancers presenting A Day of Dance on July 19, the Fringe carnival float making an appearance in the well dressing parade on July 12, and the famous Fringe Sunday in the Pavilion Gardens on July 13, where Fringe acts from music to magic will give a taste of what they do.

There is also free music with the Club Acoustic Fringe showcase concert at The Clubhouse, Aprille and the Shower playing American Bluegrass music at The Railway and Buxton Tap House presenting Music On Tap, an array of live music on various nights.

The Fringe is also hosting intriguing free theatre from regulars, the award-winning Shakespeare Jukebox, where audiences are asked to pick their favourite scene and the actors oblige.

For the lovers of the spoken word Scrivener’s bookshop is hosting Jim MacCool, reading from his new book, My Uncle Donald and Other Island Rambles, the Fringe itself offers a series of free Fringe Readings on any topic at the Old Hall Hotel and Word Wizards are presenting 16 poetry extravaganza events throughout the Fringe.

Lastly throughout Buxton there is a range of free visual art exhibitions to be enjoyed.
