Grammy nominated Claire Lynch, accompanied by her band, will be raising the rafters of Buxton Opera House in a live concert on Friday night.

A pioneer of bluegrass country music, Claire is a big star in America, but she says the UK isn’t far behind. “Folks in the UK know a lot more about the genre than you would think.” says Claire.

“I’ve found people are well-educated in bluegrass and the history of country music.”

Dolly Parton has acknowledged Claire as ‘one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music business’. Claire said: “She was very kind to give me the quote. I was her back-up singer for her Bluegrass albums. So she knew me and had worked with me.”

Does that mean there could be a Dolly/ Claire collaboration on the cards? “‘She’s been sweet to do that with other folks she’s worked with... Rhonda Vincent for example, I suppose I could ask her if she would...”

So what can we expect from The Claire Lynch Band’s Buxton show? “I have a team of world class musicians delivering heart wrenching original songs and classic covers. The show even has some Appalachian clogging and hand bone percussion.’

Tickets cost £15.50.
