Kids get active for summer of fitness
Youngsters in Chesterfield are getting active this summer with a full programme of summer holiday activities at the area’s sports centres.
A range of activities is taking place at Queen’s Park Sports Centre, owned and managed by Chesterfield Borough Council.
A full summer holiday programme is on offer until Friday, August 29.
There are activities each morning and afternoon Monday to Friday at the centre, excluding the bank holiday, Monday, August 25.
These include gymnastics, kwik cricket, touch rugby, synchronised swimming, water polo, basketball and rounders. The sessions are suitable for youngsters aged six to 14.
Councillor Amanda Serjeant, Chesterfield Borough Council’s executive member for leisure, culture and tourism said: “Our summer activities programme is a great way for youngsters in Chesterfield to get active, have fun and socialise.
A half-day session, from 9am to noon or 1pm to 4pm, costs £6 to take part (£5.40 for Active Chesterfield members), a full-day session is £10.80 for Active Chesterfield members (£12 for non-members) and a full week costs £45 for Active Chesterfield members (£50 for non-members).
