The 13.1-mile route for the Half Marathon has now been announced, so here’s everything you need to know about the race - and how to enter.

Where does the race start?

The Chesterfield Half Marathon begins in Queens Park at 9.30am.

What is the route for the half marathon?

Runners head through the town centre, into the market square and loop around the iconic spire, before running southwards onto the A617.

The route continues along the dual carriageway on the right-hand side of the road, before heading towards Hasland Road and coming back towards the town centre.

Runners will then pass the halfway point in Hasland, before heading back towards the town centre, passing the town hall, and out onto Chatsworth Road.

Runners will then loop back onto Chatsworth Road.

They will then make for the finish line in Queens Park.

What are the other events taking place?

If you’re not keen on running the full half marathon, there are a number of other events you can take part in. Here are the shorter events:

Peak FM Five Mile Run

This five mile route starts at the same time in the same place as the half marathon, and runners will do the first mile and last four miles of the half marathon course. Participants must be aged 17 or over.

Blachfords Fun Run

This is a short 1km fun run straight after the start of the half marathon and 5 mile challenge. This run is for everybody young and old. Prams, buggies and dogs are all welcome.

Pronto Paints Wellbeing Challenge

Opportunity for organisations/groups to take on the Wellbeing Challenge.

09:10: Warm Up

09:30: Start – Redbrik Chesterfield Half Marathon

09:30: Start - Peak FM 5 Mile Run

09:40: Start - Blachford Fun Run

11:15: Presentations

13:00: Last predicted finisher

13:30: Bag drop closes

Early bird entry has now closed and it is advised to book early as entries are limited to 2,000 people.

Who is sponsoring the race?

The half marathon will once again have the backing of Chesterfield Borough Council, and its main sponsor is Redbrik Estate Agents, in the fourth year of its five-year sponsorship deal.

How do I raise money for the event?

Charity Partners for the race are Ashgate Hospicecare and Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Last year, runners generated over £70,000 for charities in the Chesterfield region.
