Here are 10 of the best lockdown walks around Chesterfield as chosen by expert ramblers

A walk in the outdoors has been one of the few ways people have been able to get a change of scenery during lockdown restrictions.

Luckily Derbyshire has access to many trails, parks and footpaths – meaning that, even when everyone has been required to stay at home, locals have still been able to explore some beautiful places.

The Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Ramblers group are experts when it comes to picking perfect routes. Members have been been heading out as individuals while social distancing rules have been in force, and have shared 10 of their favourite walks to follow.

“Walking has been important as a safe activity during the pandemic as it promotes both physical and mental health,” the group says. “To avoid mud the trails are the easiest routes to follow. Most of these are on disused railway tracks and have good surfaces, easy access, are relatively flat and suitable for pushchairs and mobility scooters.”
