Showcasing creative arts

EVENTS showcasing the creative arts of adults with learning disabilities will be hosted by the Level Centre at Rowsley.

First up this Friday, February 24, from 2pm is a one-hour performance of ‘The Baker’ by guest theatre company, In the Boat, Sheffield’s leading learning disability theatre company.

‘The Baker’ is a new devised piece of music theatre with original songs, music, movement and film. The show is about a village community that has a young baker with a magic recipe book inherited from his father.

The events have been organised by First Movement, which works with people with learning disabilities, creating arts projects that develop and promote their creativity and provide a stimulating, positive and supportive atmosphere to encourage participation.

First Movement’s resident performance company, Spiral, take centre stage in the second event, on Friday, March 30, from 7pm-9pm. See the Level Centre come alive on ‘Spiral Night’, with a triple bill of short performances along with video installations and interactive spaces created to draw audiences into a world of haunting beauty.
