Let Oddsocks take you back to when life was good, the pennies counted more than the pounds and the swinging sixties was only a jive away.
Oddsocks’ new show The Merry Wives of Windsor, which will be at Chesterfield’s Pomegranate Theatre tomorrow (Friday, January 6) is inspired by the teenage revolution of the Fifties and the Soho coffee bars which saw the birth of rock ‘n; roll.
However, as Merry Wives is Shakespeare’s most frothiest of comedies and is essentially the first sitcom it will be set in a TV studio and the audience are invited to imagine they are watching a live recording of a comedy show.
Oddsocks fans know to expect surprises in the productions and Merry Wives is no exception. Actors Avita Jay and Taresh Solanki will be bringing some Bollywood glamour to proceedings and will give the show a ‘Kumars from Number 42’ meets ‘East in East’ feel!
The Merry Wives of Windsor will also be staged at Derby Theatre on January 19 and 20.
Tickets can be bought at the venues and online. Go to www.oddsocks.co.uk for further details.
