Irish folk music will set the rafters ringing when a four-piece band return to a north Derbyshire hamlet.

The Arthur Doherty Band will be performing at Uppertown Social Centre, near Ashover, on Saturday, July 9.

Frontman Arthur started his singing career in the early 1990s. Having been brought up in a traditional Irish family, many of the songs he now performs were learned during music sessions at home.

Apart from playing guitar and singing, Arthur has collected a vast repertoire of songs, jokes and stories and loves to share them with his audience.

His fellow band members comprise Roger Titley (piano and keyboards), who was a high school music teacher for nearly 30 years, Martin Thompson (fiddle, button accordion, whistles, guitar and banjo) and Dave Clark (guitar and vocals), the latter two also members of folk blues band The Deacons.
