A brilliant production of sparkling family musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is at Buxton Opera House this week.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webbers’s composition retells the Biblical story of Joseph and his eleven brothers.
Joseph is the twelfth and favourite son of Jacob, who is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and ends up as Pharaoh’s right-hand man.
This magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including favourites, Those Canaan Days, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door To Me.
The cast is just brilliant....Joe McElderry (who at 18 won The X Factor in 2009) is so suited as Joseph.
Lucy Kay (runner up in last year’s Britain’s Got Talent) is the narrator, putting the entire show together with such ease.
Emilianous Stamatakis as Pharaoh steals the show with Song of the King and King of My Heart.
The scenery and lighting are stunning; the lighting playing a big part - matching each of the colours of Joseph’s coat.
There was dancing, clapping and singing coming from Tuesday’s first-night audience at this good fun, glittering family musical.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is at Buxton until Saturday, June 11.
