Television presenter Kylie Pentelow is the new patron of a Peak District group which is campaigning to reopen an historic building as a theatre and arts centre.
Kylie (pictured), who presents BBC East Midlands Today, accepted an invitation to be patron of The Grand Pavilion in Matlock Bath. Fellow patrons are former Blue Peter presenter Simon Groom and wildlife artist Pollyanna Pickering.
Pavilion Group Chairman, Gregor Macgregor said: “I am very pleased to welcome Kylie as a patron. She will bring a regional perspective to your campaign to reopen the building as a theatre and a centre for music and the arts.
“She also has a keen interest in heritage and has been responsible for two East Midlands Today pieces on the Grand Pavilion.
“Matlock Bath is dripping with heritage, from the lead mining history, to Royal Spa town, through to the twentieth century tradition of music, leisure and tourism. The Grand Pavilion was built as part of this and has carried this legacy on to the present day. The Grand Pavilion was built as part of that and has carried this tradition on to the present day.”
Gregor added: “With nearly one thousand members, we offer a strong and growing charity, which will rebuild the Grand Pavilion into an important regional venue.
“Having a strong regional personality as a patron will help us enormously in this endeavour.”
Kylie Pentelow said; “I’m very pleased to become a Patron and will support the Grand Pavilion campaign in any way possible.
