Band of the Year 2009 Valve

Time is running out if you fancy a crack at becoming the Derbyshire Times Band of the Year 2011.

We’re looking for bands from across all genres to battle it out.

The competition, which we’ve been running since 1987, provides a big-stage showcase for local talent - with some top prizes up for grabs!

We’re looking for bands from across all genres - everything from pop, punk and rock to folk, country and electronica.

It’s easy to enter, just send us an audio CD of three tracks - at least one of which must be an original song.

Don’t worry if your songs haven’t been recorded at Abbey Road, we’re looking for great music - not the entries with the best production.

Get you CD into us, along with the entry form you’ll find in this week’s Derbyshire Times, as well as a band photo.

All the entries will be judged ‘blind’ by a panel of industry experts who will hear the songs, but not know the names of the bands.

They will pick the 12 top acts who will fight it out live in two semi-final heats on November 7 and 14.

Once again we’re working with Chesterfield Borough Council who are providing the fantastic Winding Wheel venue to stage all the live finals.

The six best bands from the two semis will then fight it out at the grand final on November 21 before one of them is crowned Derbyshire Times Band of the Year.

The closing date for entries is 5pm on September 30.

So if you fancy playing at the Winding Wheel, taking the title and scooping some top prizes - get your entries in!
