The latest Palace Theatre Music Society performances takes place tonight (Wednesday, November 18).
In action from 7.30pm at the Crescent Centre, on Booth Crescent, Mansfield will be Galliarda.
The ensemble consists of Sara Stowe (soprano and percussion), Ibi Aziz (viola da gamba), Richard MacKenzie (lute, theorbo and five-course guitar) and Wendy Hancock (Baroque flute, recorder, violl) who perform Renaissance and Baroque music.
The concert is titled The Mediterranean Temperament and is a programme of Spanish, Italian and French music which vividly evokes warmth and passion. This evening will include villancicos from Iberia, instrumental dances, French and Italian traditional songs, plus excerpts from the Tonadillas Escénicas. Composers include Vivaldi, Fontana, Frescobaldi, Juan Vasquez, José Palomino, and J.P.A. Martin.
