Final band in place for county festival’s ‘best-ever’ line-up

Celtic fusion band Peatbog Fairies are the ‘final piece in the jigsaw’ of what has been hailed the best-ever line-up for Derbyshire’s Bearded Theory Festival.

The award-winning folk act will headline the Magical Sounds Dance Stage on the Sunday night of this year’s three-day festival, performing a unique Celtic Soundclash session with progressive Celtic band Shooglenifty.

Festival spokesman Michael Eccleshall said: “We believe Peatbog Fairies are the final piece in the jigsaw, completing our best-ever line-up ever.”

Other acts on the Magical Sounds stage over the weekend include Subgiant, A Guy Called Gerald, Sicknote, Ed Tangent, Kickflip and Clumsy.

Friday on the Main Stage boasts headline performances from New Model Army and Reverend and the Makers. Also on the bill are Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, The Hummingbirds, Karine Polwart and a rare live set by indie act The Beekeepers.

Saturday’s billing is topped by the legendary Asian Dub Foundation, joined by Seth Lakeman, Macka B, The Quireboys, Ruts DC, Citizen Fish, AHAB and Zombie Met Girl.

Levellers close the festival on the Sunday night, along with Stiff Little Fingers, The Farm, Goldblade, Ezio, New Groove Formation, The Lancashire Hotpots and The Life & Times of Brothers Hogg.

Bearded Theory Festival takes place at Kedleston Hall, Derby, from May 17-19.
