The diamond dozen have been chosen and are set to battle it out in one of the most eagerly anticipated Derbyshire music events of the year.
The first six acts through to the semi-finals of the Derbyshire Times and Real Time Live Band of the Year contest will take to the stage tonight, Thursday, February 13.
A further six will perform on Thursday, February 20.
The competition has been going strong in and around Chesterfield for almost 30 years with every genre of band playing at the finals over the past three decades.
The finals will take place on Thursday, February 27 when the top six - chosen by a panel of experts - will perform.
Current Band of the Year holders Educatables will also be playing at the finals.
The band’s Ricky Barson said “To lift the trophy ourselves was the best feeling ever as it felt like we were finally appreciated for all our hard work after years of slogging away at the music business.
“This past year since we won, our profile has really been boosted. We get no end of gig requests; including our invitation to support Professor Green at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium and also we have been able to use our status to help raise a lot of money for a long list of charities.”
Entry to each of the three events, which will take place at Real Time Live, on Marsden Street, Chesterfield is £3 on the door. Ages 14 plus are welcome but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
£300 worth of prizes from Lockup Studios in Killamarsh - £150 for the winner to spend, £100 for runner-up and £50 for third place.
