Members of the Royal Antedeluvian Order of Buffaloes have handed over £557 to Chesterfield Royal Hospital in thanks for the treatment received by a lodge member.
Matron Sally Foster thanked the organisation for the money which she said would be put towards a bladder scanner for use on the Ridgeway Ward.
The award was made in gratifude for the care received by Bro Harry Johnson.
Harry was admitted to the ward with pneumonia and at times had a temperature in excess of 40 degrees. He found there was a shortage of fans and spoke to the Buffaloes’ Province Secretary, Bro Trevor Young, and within two weeks just short of £700 was raised.
From the £700, a fan was purchased, along with hairdryers, shaving mirrors, flower vases, shaving adaptors, leaflets and equipment for the nurses. Several of the items were donated by Tesco Clay Cross.
Earlier in the year, the lodge presented two CD/radios for use by the ward, one was a gift from the lodge and the other was a gift from Tesco.
