Legend’s music brought to life

American folk legend Woody Guthrie will be the subject of a new play at Buxton Opera House on Monday, at 7.30pm.

Part music, part words, Woody Sez – The Life & Music of Woody Guthrie weaves together Guthrie’s songs with excerpts from articles he wrote for the leftist newspaper The People’s World.

Following a successful West End run in 2011, charismatic Broadway and recording artist David Lutken, who plays the title role, is joined by three multi-talented folk musicians to bring Guthrie’s music to life with twin fiddles, guitars, bass, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, dobro and beautiful folk harmonies.

Tickets, priced £14 and £16, are available on 0845 127 2190 or online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
