Stone the crows! A north Derbyshire company have pulled off a coup by being granted the licence to perform one of the best-known musicals.
The rights for Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat have only just been released for youth groups outside schools and churches.
Inspirations Theatre Company will be the first in the area to perform the lively musical, at Mansfield Palace Theatre from September 19-21.
The cast is led by Alex Wallhead as Joseph, with support from Francesca Fleming (Narrator), Zac Paling (Pharaoh), Shauna Kimberley (Mrs Potipher), Connor Stanmore (Potipher), Niall Hopkinson (Butler) and Connor Lovatt (Baker).
Director Dot Clarke said: “We were really pleased to learn that Joseph had been made available for youth groups and not just schools for performance within their school or in a church.
“There are so many opportunities for the cast to use their acting skills as well as singing as it is really funny the way different genres of music are used. It is really a ‘mickey’ take as far as the music and an exaggerated style of story telling. It has to be if Pharaoh is portrayed as Elvis!
“What with colourful costumes, excellent characterisation and great singing, it will, I am sure, rate with the best shows we have done.”
