Gervase is on his marks for town date

Award winning author Gervase Phinn will be bringing his Christmas show to Buxton Opera House.

The comedian, author, poet, broadcaster, lecturer, educational guru, after-dinner speaker and “born raconteur” will be performing in town on Monday, December 17.

Gervase is perhaps best known for his best-selling series of five Dales books for Penguin. Affectionately dubbed ‘the James Herriot of Schools’, his warm-hearted reminiscences about the life of a schools inspector in the Yorkshire Dales have featured heavily on Radio 4’s Book Of The Week and Book At Bedtime slots.

During his show he shares his hilarious and sometimes poignant tales of life as a schools inspector in the Yorkshire Dales, with anecdotes, poems and readings around the theme of Christmas.
