FROM dance to food, here’s some inspiration for getting out and about this weekend.

On Saturday:

Stride out in the dark – More than 1,000 women are doing a sponsored walk at midnight in aid of Ashgate Hospice. Starts and finishes at Cliffe Park, Dronfield. Register from 10pm.

Get jiggy with it - Come to Bakewell to watch dance troupes from South Africa, France, Greece, Armenia and Poland. The event will be held all over Bakewell for a day of dance.

On Sunday:

Family fun – enjoy activities and entertainment at the third Bolsover Gala event on Sunday.

Organised by Friends of Bolsover Parks, it is being held at revamped Hornscroft Park, on Langwith at 4pm.

Smell the roses – Open gardens on Church Street South, off Derby Road, will be opened by pupils from Spire Junior School on Sunday.

The open gardens will run from 1.30pm to 4pm, admission is £2, children are free.

And finally:

A free carvery for all armed forces personnel is on offer at the Crown Carvery Restaurant, the De Rhodes Arms in Barlborough and the Young Varnish Inn in Glapwell between June 20 to June 25.
