Super trouper Matt Allen can’t wait to get back on stage, despite badly spraining his wrist in a fall during a show this week.
He lost his balance and toppled off a platform five minutes before the interval of Bolsover Drama Group youth section’s production of West Side Story.
The 13-year-old bravely carried on with the show and earned a standing ovation from spectators at The Bolsover School on Thursday.
Afterwards, Matt said: “I wanted to carry on for everyone else, I didn’t want to let anyone down.”
Representatives from St John Ambulance Brigade bandaged his left arm during the interval and after the show, he went to Chesterfield Royal Hospital where the sprain was diagnosed.
A pupil at Hasland Hall School, Matt has to wear a splint until the show which continues tonight (Friday, July 1) and tomorrow.
His mum Anne, of Central Drive, Hasland, said: “He is not nervous about going back on stage. In fact he can’t wait to get back up there. We are very proud of him.”
Show choreographer Lisa Brunt said: “Matt has been fantastic. His determination to carry on is amazing.”
