Buxton Fringe now open for 2013 entries

BUXTON Festival Fringe is back for 2013 and anyone can enter from professional theatre companies and comedians trying out material for Edinburgh, to new performers and amateur groups.

The Fringe does not select or censor and entries traditionally come from a wide variety of the arts including music, drama, visual arts, dance, film, comedy as well as workshops, walks and talks.

Entry is now open and fees remain unchanged. As the programme develops details will appear on the Fringe website and there are also plans to increase email communications to keep fans up to date.

Fringe Chair Stephanie Billen explained: “We’ve realised that we communicate a lot by email to the performers but that we could do more to let audiences know about all the exciting Fringe events in store for them.

“Registering your interest in the Fringe via our website www.buxtonfringe.org.uk is absolutely free and means you’ll be kept up to date without being at all inundated by communication from us.”

To qualify for the cheapest fees acts can enter before February 28 for only £45. Prices will be £65 to enter in March and £80 for last minute entries up to April 21, which is the absolute final deadline to appear in the printed programme.

Entry fees are kept to a minimum thanks to the sponsorship of the University of Derby at Buxton, and supporters including High Peak Borough Council, and Fringe Friends.

There is full guidance for entrants on the website www.buxtonfringe.org.uk including special marketing tips and information about venues. Entrants organise their own venue and enter the Fringe online.

The managed venue Underground Venues http://underthefringe.com/, which does select its acts, will also be operating again next year.
