Ferocious Dog and Dodgy to play Dronfest

These main attractions are the biggest names ever signed for Dronfest which has raised nearly £70,000 for charity over the years.

The main beneficiaries this year will include Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, Chesterfield Royal Macmillan Cancer Centre, Dronfield Cardio Club and St John Ambulance.

Nineteen acts will perform on two stages behind the Coach and Horses pub from midday on Saturday, August 6.

Headline band Ferocious Dog already have a fistful of festival appearances, including Glastonbury. They will be supporting The Levellers on a tour of Europe and the United Kingdom tour later this year.

Their claims to fame include being the first unsigned band to achieve an advance sell-out show at Nottingham’s Rock City.

The six-piece offer folk infused with rock, reggae and Celtic vibrations. Every note is lapped up by Ferocious Dog’s followers, fondly named Hell Hounds.

Million-selling recording artists Dodgy have racked up iconic hits such as Staying Out For The Summer, In A Room and If You’re Thinking Of Me. They sold out the Brixton Academy for three nights in a row and were awarded an unprecedented 90-minute Saturday evening slot on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival in 1997, just before Radiohead.

As usual, Dronfest will showcase musicians from the area.

Appearing on the main stage will be Beatles tribute band Johnny & The Moondogs, multi-instrumentalist Max Restaino, Mark Mathews and The One T’s, Sheffield band Liberty Ship and Jackson to name but a few. 
On the acoustic stage, expect to hear Julia McInally, Liam Walker, Martin Black, Dead Man’s Uke, Nigel Parsons, James Taplin and Rachael Webster.
