Active Derbyshire is launching a new competition for individuals and families who have been inspired by the amazing summer of sport and are taking a fresh approach to physical activity.
We want to hear great stories from people who, having been wowed by Wiggins or energised by Ennis, have taken up or tried a new sport or physical activity and have made plans to keep it up in the future.
Entrants are in with the chance of winning great sports prizes including £100 sports vouchers. There are two prize categories; one for individuals and one for families.
Angela Kirkham, Active Lifestyles Development Officer at Derbyshire Sport, leads Active Derbyshire, a campaign to encourage Derbyshire residents to become more active.
She said: “We are delighted to be launching this competition at a time when enthusiasm for sport and physical activity is at fever pitch in Derbyshire following the world class displays of competitive sporting action this summer.
“We want to hear all about how people have used this enthusiasm to turn over a new leaf, becoming more active and making plans to make health and fitness a permanent feature in their lives.
“In exchange, we are able to offer great prizes for the winners of the two categories including sports vouchers and free cycle hire around the county.”
The competition has kicked off this weekend. The closing date for entries is Friday, September 28.
