A Lee Walker goal a minute from time denied division one’s bottom side Tibshelf Town a vital point in their relegation battle.
Gary Parsons had given opponents Killamarsh Juniors the lead before Ben James levelled, a goal which seemed to have secured a point for Town before Walker’s late strike.
In another close game Doe Lea Villa just hung on against Eckington Boys to win by three goals to two. Hutchinson scored twice for Eckington but goals from Kerry Cooke, Craig Humphries and John Parsons secured the points for Villa. Bolsover Town got back to winning ways as goals from Martin Newman, Steve Jones and Steve Johnson helped them to a 3-1 win over New Whitt while Creswell Seniors won 2-1 at Brampton Rovers.
Highfield won again in two to remain top, overcoming a battling Brickmakers side by five goals to three.
The most pleasing aspect of the win as far as Highfield were concerned was that five different players got on the score sheet, D Keenan, J Simpson, M Hadfield, J Foster and J Wilkes.
Bolsover Old Boys have not enjoyed one of their better starts to a season but on Sunday a brace from Daley Furness plus one each from Anthony Stray and Liam Smith saw them beat Hady Bridge 4-0.
Second-placed Clowne Wanderers kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 4-1 win over Oxcroft MW, S Richardson 2, J Hedridge and M Smye with the goals.
Things were looking good for AFC Brampton with five minutes to go at Inky leading as they did by two goals to one thanks to a brace from Dean Issacs, however the home side drew level before clinching the victory with a spot kick in injury time.
A double from D Russell plus an own goal secured three valuable points for Hollingwood as they produced a fine performance at promotion chasing Grassmoor Sports, moving above them in the table in the process.
Division four leaders Black Swan welcomed struggling Red Lion Whitt Moor to Ashover on Sunday and although beginning the game as favourites they came up against a well organised Lion side that defended resolutely, keeping the Swan forwards at bay to hold out for a goal less draw.
Stuart Grainger was on target for Poolsbrook again but his effort was cancelled out by a J Rumsey goal for opponents Chesterfield Town.
The only goal of the game between New Inn Newton and Renishaw MW was scored by the latter while two goals from Warsop plus one each from Cave and Fletcher earned Pilsley MW a 4-0 victory at Spital.
In five the referee was the busiest man on the pitch in the ill-tempered game between Hosetech and Harleys/Scarlets.
The game had nine players cautioned and three sent off but no goals.
Walton’s Jez Mitchell’s recent fine goal scoring form continued as he hit a hat-trick in their 5-1 win over North Wingfield, while Midland Hotel’s D Singh went one better, scoring all four goals in a close 4-3 win over Brimington Utd for whom Darren Davies scored twice.
In the division’s other game Dominic Virgillio scored twice as Chesterfield Town beat Hunloke Arms 3-1
Hopflower’s lead at the top of six was extended to seven points on Sunday following their 3-0 win at New Nags Head.
The victory came thanks to goals from Dan Weaver, who scored two and Tom Downing.
Bull and Badger went second after their 3-0 win at Holmebrook Tavern. They raced into an early 2-0 lead, Atkinson and Hosford with the goals but Tavern battled back bravely, dominating the game for long periods before Hosford added a third.
Gate Inn North Wingfield are third despite being held to a goal less draw by struggling Old Whitt 2011.
A Pearson and M Walsh scored two goals each in Woodthorpe Inn’s 5-2 win over Hasland Community and there were also wins for Railway Club Athletic and Dronfield Miners.
In division seven the top two had disappointing days, particularly Butchers Arms Spartans who succumbed to Ace of Clubs, Gary Webbley scoring the only goal of the game.
Leaders Palterton did slightly better but had to settle for a point in their 1-1 draw at Boythorpe.
Spread Eagle thumped Corner House 5-0 as Angel also hit five, this time against Brampton Rovers Reserves, J Growcott scoring three, B Rutherford two.
Barlow Kingston Rovers won 4-1 at Newbold Wheatsheaf as did AFC Bolsover against Masons Arms.
Moonrakers and Chesterfield Phoenix are still neck and neck at the top of eight after they both recorded victories.
Phoenix just had the better of opponents Boot and Shoe, T Stacey scoring the only goal of the game while two Mark Woods goals helped Moonrakers beat Oxcroft DC Utd 4-1.
A close game at Brampton Brewery saw the home side just edge out Grassmoor Sports Reserves 3-2 while in a not so close game Chesterfield Town Reserves beat Grouse 4-0, Billyeald with three of the four.
Holmebrook Tavern Reserves beat Miners and Diners 5-1 in the final game of the day.
