Tupton took over top spot in the Midlands division table thanks to a derby victory over rivals Chesterfield.

The Stonegravels men stormed into a 10-0 half-time lead thanks to a converted try and a penalty but Tupton turned it around in the second half to come back and clinch the victory.

Try scorers were Spike, Brett Marriott, Steve Burton and Jordan White with Brett adding the extras.

All the points were scored in the second half at the teams turned around at 0-0.

Chesterfield’s points came from a Chris Wanford try converted by Nathan Poulton.

Man of the match for Chesterfield was Tom Marriot.



U17B 24,

Long Eaton U17 15

On a morning made for rugby Panthers started slowly, allowing Long Eaton to take a ten point lead before stepping up a gear to get James Blakey across the line to reduce the deficit.

Long Eaton restored the ten point lead with a third try but from then on it was all Panthers.

A Daniel Drew try right at the break, which Blakey converted, reduced the arrears and tries from Connor Decoster and Blaine Osbiston plus a further Blakey conversion gave the Chesterfield team a comfortable margin of victory.

Man of the match was James Croydon.


Panthers U15s 7,

Ashby U15s 34

Having scored from the first play of the game Ashby took control and their fast running backs ensured that they were going to be in control for much of the game.

A strong performance saw them lead 27-0 at half time.

Chesterfield stepped up the pace in the second half and some sterling defensive work saw the visitors limited to just one converted try while Panthers crossed the line for a consolation score.

Amber Valley knew they would be up against it against relegated Ashby and so it proved as their organised back line ran in six tries.

Man of the match was No 8 Ben Parker.

Derby Vets 35

Valley’s try came from Hewitt and other highlights for the Amber men included a huge tackle put in by Koeglenburg a big South African and a try-saving tackle from Thane.

On Saturday, Nottingham Gems visit Amber Valley, kick off 3pm.

Ripley Rhinos 1st XV 10, Pavoirs 3rd VX 29

A strong Paviors 3rd XV came away with the spoils in this Pennant League encounter at Mill Hill.

It was 19-10 at half time and the visitors added another ten points in the second half.

Tupton’s points came from a Dave Trubee try, converted by Will Evans, who also kicked a penalty.

Man of the match was Sam Musgrove.
