Tough youth set to take on the world

Aaron Cobley, of Netherthorpe School, Staveley, now has 14 medals from national youth competitions for Taekwondo and kick-boxing and ten medals from international youth Taekwondo competitions.

His mother Sarah Cobley said: “He had been doing Taekwondo since he was six-years-old and been competing since he was eight-years-old and he is now a Second Dan Black Belt. He has also been doing kick-boxing for about two or three years and has a First Degree Black Belt in kick-boxing.”

During his latest competition at the Elite Scottish Taekwondo, in Dalkeith, Scotland, this month he won four gold medals in different disciplines.

He is currently the Unified ITF English Champion and also won three silver medals and a bronze medal at the Unified ITF World Championships.

During the WKU World Kick-Boxing Championship in Crete he won two silvers and one bronze.

At the Unified ITF international Taekwondo Championships he won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal in different disciplines.

He is going to Germany at the end of the month to compete in the WKA German International Championships and has his sights set on the WKU World Championships in London in August and the European Unified ITF Championships in Ireland.

More success is anticipated for the youngster who trains with Staveley Taekwondo Club and the Bolsover Kick Boxing Academy and with the Heart of England group.
