Steve retains Pavilion title on race anniversary

The first winner was Steve Watson and he retained his title exactly one year on, coming home in 17 minutes and 39 seconds.

Also for Buxton AC and a first time winner, was Annemarie Claye who was first female home in 21.45.

The first Junior member to finish was Lucas Parker in a fantastic time of 20.06, earning him the third place overall.

On the same day as the Ashbourne half marathon, several members of the Junior section took part in the 3.5 mile fun run in the town.

Elliot Meylan led the team home in fifth place overall, and as the second placed junior, while Jacob Buckley was seventh overall and Will Tighe eighth.

In the actual Half Marathon, Jason Bennett continues his cracking first season by storming home in eighth place, with a fine result in 1.25.09.

Steve Kenworthy and Ros Barratt also took part in the half, their results being 1.45.01 and 1.48.43 respectively.

The sole representative from Buxton AC at the popular Great North Run was Jayne Denby, coming back from major health problems, to come home in 2.52.

At the same distance, Sheila Bradley travelled over to mid-Wales to take part in the scenic Lake Vyrnwy, also coming back from injury, and finished in 1.47.59, third Over-55 female.

Elsewhere, the High Peak 40 miler was held at the weekend. Held out of Buxton Community School, some 190 runners were registered, and first home was last year’s winner Duncan Harris.
