Shiners building links around the community

Spectators attending South Normanton Athletic home games will benefit from concrete standing around the disabled and family enclosure, thanks to a renewed partnership with Taylor Wimpey.

The mid-Derbyshire club intends to offer its new facilities to schools, clubs, charities and the wider general community, to provide a much-needed playing surface and encourage sport activity.

South Normanton chairman Phil Bailey said: “This is the second time Taylor Wimpey has offered support to the club, and with our expansion plans this year, the donation has come at a perfect time so we’re incredibly grateful.”

“This generous contribution means we are able to carry out essential ground improvements, which will not only benefit existing members but also those in the local community that use our facilities.” With two existing teams and plans to establish a third, South Normanton prides itself on providing the Alfreton community with an opportunity to participate in sport.

Anne Bagshaw, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “We’re thrilled to support the club once again and hope it will make a real difference to all those involved.”
