Sennan Fielding is placed third overall in the Ginetta Junior Championships after a testing motor racing weekend at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire.
Fielding, 16, from Sutton Scarsdale, battled against torrential rain on both days, but held his nerve and used his skill behind the wheel to post good results.
Fielding, who drives for Dronfield-based JHR Developments, qualified for the first race in sixth place.
On a drying track he was unable to mount an attack and finished in eighth spot.
In the second race, a bump dropped him to 11th place on the first lap but he battled his way through the pack to finish sixth and secure his third place overall in the championship.
And the two drivers from the Hathersage-based squad Hillspeed also did well at Thruxton.
In the first race Nathan Harrison was placed seventh while team-mate Pepe Massot went one better to claim sixth place.
Sunday’s race was blighted by the rain and Harrison came home in fifth spot while Massot was eighth.
The results kept the Hillspeed team in the Ginetta Junior’s top six.
Rounds seven and eight of the championship take place in June at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
