Selston golfer Josh Hall moves step nearer to pro career

A rising Selston golf star has enjoyed a double celebration by gaining qualification for the finals of a major national competition and securing a sponsorship boost with leading Midlands furniture retailer Felley Furnishings.

Josh Hall, 16, a first-year student at the Performance Golf Academy Derby, shot a level par 72 to finish runner-up in the East Midlands Collegiate Championship at Morley Hayes Golf Club.

The former Selston High School pupil, who only started playing the sport two years ago and now boasts a handicap of just four, will represent the East Midlands at the national finals in Nottingham next year.

His pursuit of a career in professional golf has been given a massive kick-start thanks to the financial support of Underwood-based Felley Furnishings, who specialise in riser recliner chairs and electric adjustable beds.

Josh, who plays at Oakmere Park Golf Club and has just been called up to train with the Nottinghamshire County under-18s squad, said: “Felley’s support has contributed to my education and training programme at Derby College. I can’t thank the company enough - they’ve backed me to follow my dreams and I hope that in the years to come I’ll be able to do them proud.”

Andrea Brooks, store manager at Felley Furnishings, said: “We are now entering our third year and have received tremendous support from the local community and surrounding areas, so we’re delighted to sponsor Josh for two years to coincide with his professional tuition at Performance Golf Derby.

“We are a local company supporting local talent and wish him all the very best for an exciting and promising future.”
