Scott increases Creswell worries

Brampton Rovers won for just the second time this season in division one of Kick Energy League with Scott Martin taking the plaudits with a superbly taken hat-trick to add to opponents Creswell Seniors relegation worries.

Liam Henman and David Manky also found the back of Seniors goal.

Tibshelf Town, Eckington Boys and Elton continued the battle for the second division title with all three clubs winners on Sunday.

Most impressive were Elton who took on a below-strength Bolsover Old Boys and capitalised big style, humbling them 12-1. Leading the charge with a double hat-trick was T Baker whose finishing was clinical. O’Neil also hit a hat-trick in the victory.

Table toppers Tibshelf Town visited Hady Bridge and beat them 5-0.

Eckington’s win came against Lokomotiv Athletic and was a close fought affair with goals from Charlton, Townsend and Adams securing an odd goal win in five. Also winners in two were Dronfield Town who beat Clowne Wanderers 4-2.

In division three Grouse Old Boys are in the thick of a relegation battle but a comfortable 5-0 win over Ark Tavern will no doubt boost their confidence on the run in to the end of the season. Phil Emberton scored two of the five goals with George Ward, Charlie Scattergood and Ashley Morton scoring also.

At the other end of the division Talbot stay on track for promotion following a 3-2 victory against Brampton Anchor, James Woodward, Chris Butterworth and Rob Durham with the goals.

A Steve Jones hat-trick moved division four side North Star to within a point of second place on Sunday.

It came against Hasland Wanderers in a 5-2 score line.

There was very little to choose between Pilsley MW and Midland Hotel as their contest ended honours even at 2-2, Shiels and Cave scoring for Pilsley, Williams and Bullivant Midland.

Division five leaders Highfield were in awesome form at Hunloke Arms keeping a clean sheet while scoring 11 times at the other end. Three players all scored twice in the win, D Keenan, D Fields and N Whitehead.

Bottom club Riverside Utd met second from bottom Barrow Hill MC and lost out to the only goal of the game, Paul Hawkins the scorer.

Poolsbrook’s S Grainger hit three in his side’s 6-0 success at Chesterfield Arms, R Harthill scoring twice. Luke Linacre scored two in a 3-2 win for Red Lion over Devonshire while North Wingfield drew 3-3 with Scarlets Nightscene.

Division Six leaders New Inn Newton returned to winning ways as goals from Mark Marriott who scored twice and Chris Marriott saw them beat Barracuda 3-1.

Dronfield Woodhouse keep up the pressure after winning 2-1 at Bull and Badger.

Butchers Arms fell behind to a Bigwell goal against Gate Inn but then Darren Davies brought them level and a fine Gino DeFazio goal put them in front by the break. Gate drew level through P Wallace before a K Glossop special and an own goal handed them victory.

Second-placed Britannia won 4-1 in seven as did White Hart Spartans, 6-2 at Bolsover Old Boys Reserves, D Smith with a couple. Dronfield Miners and Brampton Rovers Reserves drew 1-1.

Division Eight leaders Hopflower Utd went clear at the top of eight after they beat Chesterfield Phoenix 5-0, A Taylor with two and Woodthorpe lost 6-3 at Moonrakers. Moonrakers M Woods scoring four, Woodthorpes B Bower three.

White Swan Reserves and North Wingfield MW shared eight goals and the points in a 4-4 draw.

Hasland Devonshire’s fine season continued after a Danny Kirkland goal booked them a place in round Five of the Derbyshire Senior Cup, his goal enough to go past Edge Hill. Two James Senior goals plus a third from Steve Johnson sees White Swan join them, their fourth round win coming over Field Lane.

Renishaw MW reached the same stage of the Junior Cup after beating AFC Antenna Redstar in a penalty shoot-out.

In the Chatsworth Cup third round Three Horse Shoes put ten past Chesterfield Town Reserves, Ryan Varley scoring four, Ryan Whittaker three. Holmebrook Tavern progressed in the Hutson with a 3-2 win against Angel, Strong, Gavan and Fairham the scorers.
