Rykneld swimmers return from county champs with 29 medals

Members of the Rykneld Swimming Team returned from the Derbyshire ASA County Championships with 29 medals - 16 golds, four silvers and nine bronze.

Imogen Clark, 15, Andrew Hopkinson, 18, Joshua Pemberton, 15, Adam Lievesley, 18, Laura Mitchell, 14, and Kelsie Geary, 13, all qualified for Midland ASA Championships.

Imogen Clark, 15, trains under the guidance of GB coach Andi Manley in Deventio Excel (DX Squad) and holds the 50m freestyle British junior record in a time of 25.68, 50m breaststroke in 31.27 and has already qualified for the national championships in 50m freestyle and 100m breaststroke.

With Head Coach Matt Smithurst, it looks like being an exciting year for Rykneld Swimming Club.

“On behalf of the committee I would like to say a big thank you to all swimmers, coaches and parents for their continued effort and support,” said committee member Rebecca Hoyland.
