Chesterfield Panthers kept the heat on the top three in Midlands Division Three East (North) after a much-needed win over Grimsby.
A 32-14 victory at Dunston Road on Saturday over a Grimsby side fifth from bottom in the table and with an overall points difference of -90.
Panthers are 146 in the black and travel to fifth-placed Kesteven this coming week (March 7) who are nipping at their heels two points behind.
It was a slick performance from Chesterfield and coach Derek Sherlock said: “Some pieces of play were the best I’ve seen all season.”
Amber Valley moved off the foot of the table with a 26-10 win over Mellish, who they leapfrogged in the process, to move on to six points.
They travel to Melton Mowbray this coming weekend.
While in Midlands Division Two East (North), Matlock continue to lead the way with a 25-5 win over Ashbourne.
Dronfield suffered a 25-12 defeat at Coalville and Bakewell Mannerians trounced Loughborough 31-0 to further themselves from the lower reaches.
Tupton overcame Rolls Royce 21-3 in Midlands Division Four East (North). Tupton travel to bottom side Skegness on Saturday, Matlock host Ashby, Bakewell travel to Market Bosworth and Dronfield entertain West Bridgford.
