Tupton demolish leaders to secure promotion
An impressive demolition of title rivals Ashfield clinched promotion to the Midlands 3 East division of the National League for the first time for proud Tupton.
On a day of high drama and in front of a large crowd, Tupton triumphed 27-12 to inflict only the second defeat of the season on the leaders.
The first half swung this way and that, with Ashfield leading 12-10 despite tries from Luke Marshall and James Blakey. But after the break, Tupton played their most complete rugby of the season and dominated. Tries were added by Blakey, Will Nyland and Jack Buchan.
With promotion in the bag, Tupton have one game remaining, at home to local rivals Chesterfield Panthers.
