Chesterfield club to stage open day during Rugby World Cup

Chesterfield Panthers Rugby Club are hoping to profit from the ongoing Rugby World Cup as they aim to attract new members.

The club, based on Durston Road, will be staging a free event on Saturday, October 10 - the date of England’s final group A match.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We are backed by the RFU, and we are currently trying to recruit players aged 16 and over into the sport, during the 2015 World Cup.

“We are hosting a free event for anyone interested, to come and join us on October 10.

“There will be a chance to join in rugby fun, experience the game, have some free food and time to watch the England v Uruguay England game afterwards in the clubhouse.

“Rugby is a very family orientated game, which teaches respect, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.

“All levels of ability are welcome, girls and boys, men and women.”
