Retford got the perfect start when after only four-minutes Brandon Kane put his side ahead.

There was very little from the home side after that apart from a few attempts that were handled well by the Clay Cross defenders.

In fact all the pressure was exerted on Retford goalkeeper Warren Squires but just as many chances were created there was equally as many squandered and the United led by that single goal at the break.

On 67 minutes though Joel Holland put The Millers deservedly back in the game when he forced the ball over the line from close-range.

Pushing hard for that winning goal saw Clay Cross get caught on the break on 84 minutes when it left George Slack having to chase back desperately.

His challenge could have been deemed fair but with it coming from behind the referee pointed to the spot.

Leon Osbourne put it beyond the reach of Ryan Hopkins to make it 2-1.

But Lynam levelled on 90 minutes after Clay Cross got a penalty of their own.
