Buxton Bulls stormed to a convincing 38-point winning margin over Nottingham Outlaws at Green Lane.

The day didn’t start well as the team was still assembling the posts that were damaged last weekend 45 minutes before kick-off so the preparation wasn’t the best.

However, this didn’t stop the Bulls starting with plenty of power, flair and aggression.

This positive approach was rewarded after a couple of strong drives upfield from Pollitt and Twyford created enough space for Mark Innes to race away for the opening score.

The Bulls now were rampant and breaks upfield were aplenty, only for the final pass to go astray.

This continued until a fine flowing move saw the ball reach Ryan Sircar who used his sheer pace down the line to outstrip the chasing defenders and score under the posts. It was duly converted by Jay McGuigan to make it 12-0.

A mistake from the kick-off then gave Outlaws a great field position which they used to good effect as they managed to sneak over in the corner to pull a try back.

The rest of the half belonged to the Bulls and centres Austin and Packard put Luke Howard through for two quickfire tries, both converted, to make it 24-4 at the interval.

After the break things remained the same and Bulls extended their lead as Howard and Innes secured their hat-tricks.

There was just enough time left for Jay McGuigan to sidestep his way over the line before the Outlaws had the final say with a consolation converted try of their own just before the final whistle.

• This week the Bulls make the long trip over to Boston for a Midlands Premier Division game which will also double up as the annual challenge cup match.
