Raceline: Tip of the Day 4th December

Another winner yesterday made it three from our last four selections. Do you fancy jumping on the bandwagon?

Tuesday December 4

UTOPIAN

Folkestone 2.00 WIN

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong on the hurdling debut of Nick Gifford’s expensive French-bred gelding at Lingfield three weeks ago. Under an ineffective, injudicious ride from amateur jockey David Dunsdon, the four-year-old pulled too hard early on and jumped so abysmally it was as if he’d not been schooled beforehand. Yet still, somehow, he managed to finish a staying-on fourth in a respectable race. If you believe that his chances must improve for the booking of a professional pilot, Leighton Aspell, this time round and if you believed your own eyes when he produced one of last season’s most impressive Bumper victories (at Fontwell in February), then he must be of interest here. He was bought for a whopping 120,000 euros after also landing a Bumper in his native country and boasts immense natural talent, especially on soft ground, which he gets today.
