Raceline: Tip of the Day 3rd January

OUR resident tipster, Scoop Racing (Richard Silverwood), is on a frustrating run at the moment as he keeps hitting the bar or the post! Let’s hope he scores with today’s tip.

Thursday 3rd January

NO DEAL

Ayr 12.30 WIN

The Scotland-based operation of Lucinda Russell and Peter Scudamore went into the New Year on the back of a poor sequence of 40 runners without a win, which earned it a place on the Racing Post’s dreaded cold list. But they bounced back in sparkling style here at Ayr yesterday by reeling off a hat-trick in the first three races, and hopes are high that the trend can be maintained by this lovely, big seven-year-old. After faring well in Irish point-to-points, the £30,000 that connections paid for him looked money well spent when he showed a terrific attitude to wear down a Donald McCain favourite in a bumper at Carlisle in November. Today he switches to hurdles, for which he has reportedly schooled well, and he is bred to relish what is sure to be a stamina slog over 3m on heavy ground.
