Raceline: Tip of the day 28th September

Back to winning ways yesterday -- and at a terrific price. Here is the latest selection from the stable of Scoop Racing (Richard Silverwood):

Friday September 28

THISTLE BIRD

Newmarket 1.45 WIN

At first glance, this looks a richly competitive renewal of the Rosemary Stakes, formerly run at Ascot. But on closer inspection, it’s clear that the form of Roger Charlton’s on-song filly is a notch above her rivals. The daughter of Selkirk has already won three times at this Listed level this season, improving considerably for the application of a hood. She also came within a whisker of beating highly-rated colts in a Group Two at Goodwood last month. Had she won that contest, she would have had to carry a penalty here. Instead she races off level weights (age allowances excepted) and must have a golden chance of maintaining a wonderful season. She boasts a smart turn of foot and will love today’s ground.

THURSDAY: RED AVENGER WON (13/2)

WEDNESDAY: VALIANT GIRL 5th

TUESDAY: HOOFALONG 4th

MONDAY: INTIBA WON (evens)
