RACELINE: TIP OF THE DAY

It’s a big day at Doncaster today, highlighted by the last major Group One race of the UK Flat season, the Racing Post Trophy. Here’s a strong fancy for later on the card:

Saturday October 27

TAAYEL

Doncaster 4.10 WIN

I’m not a big fan of jockey Tadhg O’Shea. But his booking is the only negative I can find for John Gosden’s Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned two-year-old who is improving leaps and bounds. After skating up on debut, the son of high-class colt Tamayuz was pitched straight into Group Two company at Newbury last month. But despite receiving a hefty bump just as he was about to launch his challenge, he acquitted himself well to chase home a winner who went on to finish a close second in the Group One Middle Park Stakes. Today’s contest represents a significant drop in class and with the softer ground not expected to inconvenience him, the colt is fancied to further boost the chances of his handler landing the trainers’ championship for the first time.
