RACELINE: TIP OF THE DAY

Here is the latest selection from our exclusive tipping service, provided by Scoop Racing (Richard Silverwood):

Thursday October 25

SUPER DUTY

Carlisle 5.00 WIN

Before his death this time last year, one of the last, significant buys by ex-trainer Ginger McCain, of Red Rum fame, was this exciting horse for the yard now operated so successfully by his son, Donald. A six-year-old gelded son of 1996 St Leger winner Shantou, he enjoyed a tremendous season in novice hurdles last term, winding up with an effort at Aintree’s Grand National meeting that saw him beaten only by Nicky Henderson’s crack Champion Hurdle prospect, Simonsig. However he’s built for fences and today marks his eagerly-awaited chasing debut. As the campaign progresses, he’ll want much further than this 2m trip. But McCain feels he’ll be fine on what is a stiff track, particularly on soft ground, and reports that he has schooled well at home. The big danger is Nuts N Bolts, who actually beat the selection at Ayr last term -- but only because Super Duty crashed at the final flight when looking in control despite giving his rival 4lbs.
