RACELINE: Tip of the Day 12th October

Yesterday’s selection lost too much ground when slow out of the stalls. Let’s hope for better luck today.

Friday October 12

JAWHAR

Bath 1.30 WIN

Pre-season, Newmarket trainer William Haggas made no secret of his belief that this Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned four-year-old was capable of reaching a handicap mark in the mid-90s. Therefore, he has to be of interest today off exactly 90, even though he must shoulder top weight. The race also represents a step-up in class but that is offset by the bonus of Soft ground, which Haggas has always considered important to him. Like most progeny by the sire of Halling, the gelding has improved with age this term and was particularly impressive two starts ago when registering the smoothest of victories at York. He wasn’t as fluent when clocking up a hat-trick at Newbury last time but was probably feeling the faster surface. Today’s contest isn’t particularly competitive and although the track can be tricky, he should handle it providing the hood again helps him to settle.

THURSDAY: GREEN PARK UNPLACED

WEDNESDAY: TAMARKUZ WON (11/8)

TUESDAY: IF SO 3RD (8/1)

TIP OF THE DAY IS SUPPLIED BY SCOOP RACING (RICHARD SILVERWOOD).
