Coach Christian Battye was also happy with the outing, stating: "We took everything worked on during the week and applied it here.

"We try not have a rigid game plan or formation, but we work to a set of principles instead.

"Hard work off the ball, never giving up, passing it early - they’ll get you a long way.

"We did that today and put in a quality performance. It was really enjoyable to watch.”

The Seconds have made a solid start to life in Division One despite a 6-2 loss to Derby at the weekend.

Second team captain Emma Chapman praised the teams work ethic: "This weeks scoreline doesn’t do the performance justice.

"We worked incredibly hard, especially the midfield. We are looking forward to the Firsts versus Seconds game."

In the Midlands Men’s League Division One, Chesterfield's Men's Firsts came away from the long trip to league favourites Stourport empty handed, in spite of a resilient performance, losing 5-0.

Looking ahead to the next match at home to Warwick, skipper Jon Moores said: “It’s been a awhile since we’ve played Warwick, they had a very good side a few years ago.

"We’re expecting another tough test but we’re still confident of doing well in this league.”
