Father and daughter duo from Belper celebrate medal success
Dr Charles Spring, principal instructor of ronin Budo Martial Arts, and his daughter Charlie have won medals at international virtual karate tournaments during the lockdown.
The pair have entered regional and international competitions previously, including world championships.

Katas are set patterns that are performed using focus, technical abilities and power to show proficiency in karate).
During the lockdown competitions have stopped and Charlie, who suffers some mental health issues, needed a focus to help keep her occupied.
They entered the WKC World Championships and the Pan American Championships, with Charles winning gold and silver at the worlds and together, in the team kata, they won a bronze.
At the Pan American tournament Charlie achieved a gold and Charles two golds and a silver.
