Superb performances by Xavier McIntosh, who amassed 34 points, and star man Joseph Baugh, who scored 20, helped Arrows win 90-83.

They now sit fourth in the Second Division table, level on points with third-placed Charnwood College Riders, and have three crucial games to play, starting with a home clash against top-of-the-table Team Newcastle University.

Proud coach Jonny Kelly said: “We fought for everything. Xavier was inspired, finishing with great skill. He grows with each game and is beginning to understand what the team need from him.

“Joseph was again inspirational and helps the team continually in the moments of great pressure.”

A thrilling match went down to the final seconds before Arrows, roared on by a partisan crowd, sealed their triumph.

They began slowly before settling down to lead 28-25 by the end of the first quarter after key baskets from Napthali Nembhard and George Brownell.

The advantage was extended to 53-44 at half-time as Jacob Parades, who ended with ten points in total, and Matz Mastalerz converted opportunities, and James Kelly used his experience to good effect.

Bristol regrouped and after closing the gap in the third quarter, they drew level with only only five minutes left. But Arrows dug deep and with McIntosh inspired, and Baugh and McKenzie solid, they edged home.

Meanwhile, at U14s level, Arrows recovered from a slow start to win 73-44 away to City Of Leeds (Black) to stay clear second in the Conference North division of the National League.

They trailed 10-6 in the opening quarter against an enthusiastic and determined Leeds side, but found their feet in the second quarter, going into the interval with a 22-17 advantage.

Coach James Kelly made some shrewd adjustments, and Arrows were soon at full throttle. Kyle Edwards top scored with 18 points, and Chris Ampon hit 12.
